Respected partner Emina Pasagic left the practice at Maric Law Office in November 2008 to form her own IP boutique. Associate Anisa Strujic now heads the office, which is a registered trade mark agent. As well as acting to protect clients’ general, industrial and geographical trade marks, the firm advises on copyright and brand protection. Leading clients include Philip Morris International, Spirits Products International and LVMH Holding, responsible for brands including Moet Henessy and Louis Vuitton.

Lawyers Office Pasalic & Pasalic is particularly strong in IP law. In addition to a broad domestic client base, the firm has acted for many major international brands including Red Bull, Sony Ericsson and Nestle. Inja Pasalic has a reputation for tenacity and successfully pursuing cases through to the Supreme Court.

In 2008, Emir Kovacevic, Attorney at Law advised halal food company, Agency, on trade mark protection.

Law Office Femil Curt continues to advise European clients on trade mark protection and industry design patent protection. Work is now led directly by local lawyers, rather than being managed by Vienna-based partners as in previous years, although partner Alexander Cizek continues to provide oversight and assistance.

In addition to acting for international clients such as Apollo Tyres, India and McArthurGlen Europe on the submission of trade mark applications, in 2008 Wolf Theiss also represented SWAG Autoteile with regard to the confiscation of goods by Bosnian custom officials.

1 What are the main statutes and regulations relating to employment? The main statutes relating to employment are the Portuguese Employment Code (approved by Law 7/2009 of 12 February 2009) and the Regulation of the Employment Code (Law 35/2004 of 29 July 2004) which is still in force notwithstanding the fact that parts have been revoked with the entry into force of the new Employment Code. Within the Employment Code, the vast majority of the rules are mandatory and, therefore, can only be modified by agreement of the parties and only if such amendment is intended to improve the position or rights of the employees.
