It is good practice to have a privacy policy to advise people of how your organization will collect, use and disclose any personal information your organization possesses.  Also, it may be required by law if your organization is subject to the <em>Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act </em>or any of the substantially similar legislation.

It is good practice to have a privacy policy to advise people of how your organization will collect, use and disclose any personal information your organization possesses.  Also, it may be required by law if your organization is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act or any of the substantially similar legislation.  

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada recently released "Ten Tips for a Better Online Privacy Policy and Improved Privacy Practice Transparency".  The tips center around providing clear information that is relevant to your users, providing contact information, and making privacy information accessible.  Even if you already have a privacy policy posted on your website, it is still worthwhile to review these tips to determine whether your policy should be amended or clarified.<
