The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on Serle Court

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at Serle Court. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘Serle Court has an excellent reputation in the areas of work I want to specialise in, and I was also impressed at how friendly members were when I met them during the interview process’

How does/did your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘The quality of work is exceptional – there are always opportunities to attend Court, either with my supervisor or with other members. Compared to pupils at other chambers, I have definitely been exposed to more and a wider range of advocacy. Very little in the way of dead work is set – most of the work I have produced is for live matters, and it is reassuring to see my work actually being used’

Best thing about chambers?

‘The superb quality of work – members really do work on matters that make it into the Financial Times (or other major newspapers) on a regular basis.

Worst thing about chambers?

‘I can’t say there are any real downsides’

CSR/Pro bono?

‘There is no pressure to get involved, but for those who do there is no shortage of work through Advocate’
