The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on Pallant Chambers

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at Pallant Chambers. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘They covered the areas of work I wanted to specialise in and there was such a wealth of high quality work available for junior tenants. Plus, the whole team were incredibly supportive throughout a remote pupillage and I got on well with my supervisor and the clerks. The location was perfect – on circuit but with close links to London. It has a good relationship with local solicitors and especially local authorities, which meant I was walking into an already full practice’

How does your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘I know that I had more high-quality work in my second six than most pupils. I also know that I felt much more supported and able to approach my senior colleagues/ head of chambers than other pupils’

What is the best thing about chambers?

‘They are incredibly supportive and understanding while still pushing me to have the best practice I can as a junior tenant’

What is the worst thing about chambers?

‘There is much more working from home than pre-pandemic apparently so I don’t get to see the other members as much as previous pupils would have done’

Best moment to date?

‘First case on my feet’

Worst moment to date?

‘Losing my first big trial – just disappointing!’
