Survey Results - Trainee feedback on Old Square Chambers

The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on Old Square Chambers

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at Old Square Chambers. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘Reputation and quality of work in my area’, ‘they were the highest ranking of my offers’

How does your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘Generally similar if not better. Distinctions between whether you practise in your second six or not makes a significant difference to training but it’s impossible to judge which route is preferable. Would say better here in terms of involvement in quality of work than in others’, ‘better’

Best thing about chambers?

‘High level cases and practitioners working on industry leading cases’, ‘high quality of work’

Worst thing about chambers?

‘Can be slightly quiet sometimes as lots of people tend to work from home, but I expect that’s normal across the Bar nowadays’

Best moment to date?

‘My first time winning a case in my second six’, ‘attending a two-day hearing on employment status for which I drafted the bulk of the skeleton argument’

Worst moment to date?

‘The first case I undertook in my second six (did not win that one..)’, ‘being asked to draft chronologies for other members of chambers’
