Survey Results - Trainee feedback on Fountain Court Chambers

The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on Fountain Court Chambers

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at Fountain Court Chambers. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘Quality of work’, ‘the quality of work and approachability of members of chambers’

How does/did your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘Very good – excellent; all live work and good feedback’, ‘more rewarding because every piece of work was live and less stressful because there were no artificial assessments, i.e. dead work or advocacy exams’, ‘better than average’

Best thing about chambers?

‘The quality of work – the tenancy selection process is also transparent and sensible’, the down-to-earth attitude of the majority of members’, ‘variety and quality of work’

Worst thing about chambers?

‘Sometimes doesn’t feel that busy as a lot of people work from home; not sure if this is worse or better than other chambers’, ‘some members can be a bit more demanding than others, but you can chose who you work with after pupillage’, ‘the work/life balance’

Best moment to date?

‘Going to the Supreme Court!’, ‘seeing development from when I started to now’, ‘attending court, mediations and/or client conferences, and getting to see some of my work reflected in the final product’

Worst moment to date?

‘Tricky tasks can be stressful’, ‘the (rare) occasions when I complete a piece of work and don’t get any feedback for a long period of time’
