Survey Results - Trainee feedback on Fenners Chambers

The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on Fenners Chambers

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at Fenners Chambers. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘Location and spread of work’, ‘they were the local chambers in the town I had practised in as a solicitor and we knew each other well!’

How does your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘Relaxed, with less focus on volume of work and greater focus on quality. Supportive’

Best thing about chambers?

‘Collegiate atmosphere’, ‘approachable members who are very friendly and excellent clerks’

Worst thing about chambers?

‘There are sometimes delays in decisions, both during pupillage and in general management’, ‘it’s cold in the winter!’

Best moment to date?

‘My first final hearing, where I was able to see how I had developed, particularly over third six’

Worst moment to date?

‘Initial failure to obtain tenancy at the end of second six’

CSR/Pro bono?

‘Good, we work with a local university to provide legal advice in family law. Options beyond family are slightly more limited’
