Survey Results - Trainee feedback on Atlantic Chambers

The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on Atlantic Chambers

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at Atlantic Chambers. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘I wanted to practice solely in one practice area, rather than pursuing a common law pupillage. I wanted to be in chambers that were relatively small and only have one location’

How does your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘I feel that I am assessed less than others. I do not feel like pupillage is an exam/audition in the way that I might elsewhere. The focus is on preparing me to do the work, rather than setting arbitrary hurdles’

Best thing about chambers?

‘The friendliness of members who go out of their way to pass on their substantial knowledge, particularly those who offer their time as pupil supervisors’

Worst thing about chambers?

‘Chambers is often very quiet with many people working from home’

Best moment to date?

‘Being thanked for my contribution by a silk. The work in question took a lot of time to prepare so it was nice for it to be appreciated’

Worst moment to date?

‘Embarrassingly misunderstanding a judge’s direction. This was gently pointed out though and I did not feel ridiculed for it’

CSR/Pro bono?

‘Pro bono opportunities are routinely shared among members of chambers’
