The lowdown - Pupils (in their own words) on 3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings)

We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at 3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings). Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘They were always a top choice following a great mini pupillage’, ‘I felt sure my non-traditional background, non-Oxbridge degree wouldn’t be looked down on and I would be judged on a wider merit matrix’, ‘location and reputation, as well as prior knowledge of the chambers’

How does your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘I haven’t come across a chambers with a better training system’, ‘better’

Best thing about chambers?

‘Our size makes diary management very flexible and large get-togethers a lot of fun’, ‘the support and resources’

Worst thing about chambers?

‘Post-Covid most members work almost exclusively from home; this makes calling on others for help much more difficult’, ‘lack of clarity about practice areas’

Best moment to date?

‘The offer of tenancy’, ‘my final advocacy exercise fully robed’, ‘shadowing on a large fact find’

Worst moment to date?

‘Having to do my training early on in the pandemic’, ‘the impossibility of feeling both employed and self-employed during pupillage’
