Career

Amanda represents clients in the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the ECJ, the High Court and the First Tier Tax Tribunal and has been involved in litigation in many areas of direct and indirect tax, including the application of carry back losses, the proper application of double tax treaties and is currently appearing in a number of judicial review cases. Her advisory tax work focuses on corporate issues, including hedge fund issues such as the taxation of carried interest and the salaried members rules, foreign domiciliary and residence issues, divorce and pensions tax. She has written the second edition of Tolley’s Statutory Residence Text (December 2017).

Bencher of the Middle Temple, Chair of the Chancery Bar Association, Chair of the ChBA Wellbeing Committee, responsible for establishing the ChBA Litigants in Person Scheme (CLIPS) in the High Court and CLCC,  Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Tax Advisors with Freedom of the City of London.
