Within his personal injury practice Karamjit is known for his balanced advice which gives lay and professional clients realistic choices when deciding the merits of their case.
Karamjit regularly proofs and test witnesses for the Claimant and Defendant and advises in high value factually sensitive cases. He has been instructed to represent, for example, victims who have come forward as a result of Operation Yewtree, which was the Police investigation set up following the investigation into sexual abuse committed by Jimmy Savile.
On the whole Karamjit has a broad civil practice covering the most common areas of personal injury cases. However, he has a particular interest in sporting injuries due to his passion for basketball having been a member of Shropshire’s County Basketball Team. Karamjit has dealt with a number of cases of sportsmen and women suffering injury at the hands of other players or due to the negligence of organisers.
Notable Cases:
P Stanley v P Walkden [2017] Miss Stanley was employed by the ambulance service. After finishing her shift, she was returning home from work. A vehicle being driven by the defendant and travelling the other opposite direction to her decided to overtake the vehicle in front. A collision took place between Miss Stanley’s vehicle and the Defendant’s. Miss Stanley suffered life changing injuries. Karamjit advised on the case in conference, which eventually settled for £950,000.
R Pearson v Demma Services [2016] – Karamjit secured damages of £325,000 following a JSM. The loss of earnings claim was the most contentious given the conflicting medical evidence. The Claimant was extremely satisfied with the result.
M Priamo v E Thompson [2016] – Mr Priamo suffered soft tissue injuries following a RTA. Karamjit was able to negotiate a settlement of £90,000 where there was a significant risk the Claimant could have recovered far less due to his employment history.
R Goobier v D Chittock [2013] – Roy Goobier was a cyclist riding at a high level. On average covering approximately 12,000 miles a year and participating in speed racing. Unfortunately, he suffered significant injuries in a road traffic accident. Working closely with his solicitors at a JSM, Karamjit secured a settlement of £250,000 in damages, which was 85% of that which was claimed.

Karamjit has a particular interest in sporting injuries due to his passion for basketball, having been a member of Shropshire’s County Basketball Team. Karamjit has dealt with a number of cases of sportsmen and women suffering injury at the hands of other players or due to the negligence of organisers and has advised in a number of selection disputes.
In addition, in February 2014, Karamjit was appointed to chair one of the Football Association’s Anti-Discrimination Panels. In 2015, he was appointed to England Netball’s disciplinary and appeal panel and most recently to the British Gymnastics Disciplinary Panel.
Mr Sandhu was a member of the British Wrestling Association. He had won numerous competitions including, eight British and five English championships. On 20 September 2016, Mr Sandhu was subject to an Out-of-Competition anti-doping test. The test results showed the presence of a non-specified substance under s1.1a of the WADA 2016 Prohibited list for Exogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroids. Mr Sandhu was charged with an ADRV pursuant to ADR 2.1.
Karamjit appeared before The National Anti-Doping Panel on behalf of Mr Sandhu. Mr Sandhu admitted the findings of the doping test and argued the presence of which was unintentional. The Panel could not find that was the case. A four-year ban was imposed.
