Career

Kate now practises solely in family law having undertaken work in a range of areas including property, immigration, personal injury and general civil in her early years of practice. She has a broad and holistic knowledge therefore of complementary areas of practice to her core area of family law.

Kate practises in all aspects of family finance proceedings, including applications pursuant to TLATA 1996. She represents spouses, cohabitants and intervenors at all stages of proceedings, including in trials of preliminary issue hearings and final hearings.

Kate has experience of a wide range of financial remedies applications, including cases which involve: high net worth clients, complexity or have an international element, pre- or post-acquired assets, disputes over the applicability of pre- or post nuptial agreements, family businesses, Schedule 1 Children Act claims, freezing Injunctions and enforcement.

Kate regularly acts in all areas of private children law including internal and external relocation and child arrangement disputes. She has experience in complex cases such as those involving allegations of serious domestic abuse including sexual assault, cases in which a Guardian has been appointed as well as in applications for enforcement.

She is alive to the many multifaceted issues that can arise in private law cases, including specifically those with an element of immigration law.

Kate further acts in injunctive proceedings with experience of urgent, without notice applications. She has acted in cases involving serious allegations of domestic violence and abuse and has conducted multi-day fact finding hearings within Family Law Act proceedings. Kate has experience in representing vulnerable clients.

Education

Kate studied Law at King’s College London and later studied for an MA in History at Birkbeck College London. Kate was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 2013 as a Prince of Wales Scholar.

Personal

Kate was a Pegasus Scholar in 2018 joining a Chambers in Auckland, New Zealand. Kate was also the recipient of an International Legal and Development Grant in 2022, an Anne Goddard Scholarship in 2015 and recipient of both a Human Rights Scholarship from Gray’s Inn and a Human Rights lawyers Association Bursary from City University. Kate has undertaken a range of volunteer roles including as a Custody Visitor for the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime and the National Centre for Domestic Violence. Kate currently volunteers at the Futures and Employability drop in evening at Hackney Quest.
