Position

Kathryn’s practice involves both defending and prosecuting serious criminal matters. She is a highly regarded and experienced, heavyweight criminal practitioner with a proven record in dealing with serious offences. She has extensive experience in the handling of vulnerable defendants/witnesses, paper heavy cases and disclosure.

Career

Her wide ranging work includes serious sexual assaults (recent and historic), serious violence including murder, child cruelty, indecent images, drugs, cases involving victims and defendants with mental health problems and learning disabilities, as well as confiscation proceedings and high value fraud. Her practice whilst principally focussed on the SE Circuit often finds her in the Midlands and Northern Circuits where she continues to build her practice.

Kathryn has extensive experience of instructing intermediaries and expert witnesses to act for the defence. She has also undertaken a significant amount of cases involving complainants who are very young involving specialised cross examination. She is frequently instructed in such cases where she negotiates with intermediaries on proposed cross-examination.

Kathryn is one of the most experienced members of a team within Chambers who specialise in serious sexual offence matters who both prosecute and defend and she has facilitated training other members of chambers in vulnerable witness questioning.

She has a successful appellate practice and takes on direct access clients. She has advised pre-charge for people recently arrested as well as for the prosecution.

She is a Grade 3 prosecutor.
