Career

Dale joined our Trade Mark Team in January 2017 from an IP specialist Law Firm. Before that Dale spent 5 years working as an in-house Trade Mark Advisor in the UK for Nestlé, the world’s largest nutrition, health and wellness company. There Dale had direct responsibility for all trade mark filing, prosecution, opposition and cancellation actions before the UK IPO as well as managing a portfolio of trade marks and designs in Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway through a network of overseas advisors. Dale was also heavily involved in trade mark filing, prosecution and contentious Registry proceedings before the EU IPO. Protection of Nestlé’s IP was a key part of Dale’s in-house role which meant he was responsible for clearing new trade marks and designs for use and registration by the business in the UK and overseas.

Dale has extensive experience in trade mark management, trade mark prosecution and in the conduct of trade mark disputes. On numerous occasions Dale has acted as a Trade Mark Advocate, representing clients at trade mark hearings (first instance and on appeal) before the UK IPO and the UK Appointed Person.

Dale advises clients on a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters, including brand creation, trade mark clearance searches, strategic trade mark filings, trade mark disputes and settlement agreements. Dale’s experience spans a range of sectors including, food and beverage, finance, banking, fashion, engineering, telecommunications and automotive.
