Career

Barbara is a UK and European patent attorney based in our Netherlands office. With experience assisting multi-nationals, SMEs, and start-ups, she works closely with clients to develop and successfully implement global patent strategies.

With a background in physics, Barbara handles matters in a broad range of technologies, including energy generation and storage, surgical and diagnostic devices, and fast-moving consumer products. Day-to-day, her work ranges from identifying inventions and drafting applications, through to providing advice in post-grant matters, including opposition before the European Patent Office and providing FTO advice. She also has extensive experience in European patent prosecution as well as directing patent prosecution outside Europe, including in India, China, and Japan.

Barbara joined Kilburn & Strode as an attorney in the Tech practice group in 2019. After starting her career in London, she worked as an attorney in a leading Dutch patent firm before joining our team in the Netherlands. She is a happy mix of personable and industrious and enjoys guiding clients through the complexities of the patent system, in Europe and further afield.
