Career

Joseph has been advocate of the High Court of Kenya since 2010. He joined Kaplan & Stratton in 2014 and made partnership in 2017. Joseph advises clients on a wide range of corporate/commercial matters ranging from mergers and acquisitions, internal re-organisations, share and asset sales, joint venture arrangements, capital markets and due diligence assignments.

His client portfolio comprises local and international equity investors, local and international listed companies, insurance companies, telecommunication companies, energy companies and private equity funds.

Some of the landmark transactions Joseph has advised on include: advising PineBridge Investments in their exist from PineBridge Investments (Kenya) Limited,  advising Barclays Africa Group Limited in connection with the purchase of a 63.33% equity interest in First Assurance Company Limited – a licensed general insurance company in Kenya, advising Sanlam group in connection with the purchase of a 30% equity interest in Saham Finances and the acquisition of an indirect interest in Saham Assurance Kenya Limited, advising Willis Towers Watson in connection with their acquisition of Gras Savoye Kenya Insurance Brokers Limited, advising Brookside Africa Limited on its multimillion dollar acquisition of a dairy business in Uganda, advising AfricInvest Fund II in connection with the sale of a 25% equity interest in Brookhouse Schools Limited, advising Safaricom Limited on its acquisition of Essar Telecom Kenya Limited’s entire shares and fiber optic capacity in The East African Marine System Limited (TEAMS); and advising Gulf Power Limited in connection with the € 62,500,000 financing by International Finance Corporation, Standard Bank of South Africa and OPEC Fund for International Development for the building a power plant.
