Position

Augustine is currently a partner at the firm and is part of the management team responsible for strategy formation, direction and implementation. He was an integral part of the team that led the cultural transformation journey of Kampala Association Advocates as a business and championed numerous initiatives geared at enabling the strategy position. In particular, Augustine as the partner in charge of ICT at Kampala Associated Advocates  spearheaded the transformation and upgrading of the firm’s ICT platforms.

In addition to the firm’s leadership responsibilities, Augustine continues to offer excellent legal and commercial advice to multiple clients in the various practice areas he has cut out a niche in notably, Telecommunications and Technology Law, Intellectual Property Law, Employment Law in addition to strategic litigation and disputes resolution in the above areas of law and general commercial litigation.

Career

Augustine was made a partner at the firm in 2017. He has close to 14 years’ experience as a lawyer  and has worked with some of the biggest firms in the country. Augustine has extensive knowledge of telecommunications and technology law and has represented the leading communications sector players in numerous industry ground breaking litigation and transactions. Through his litigation practice, he has acted in some of the novel disputes in the country touching on various technology and telecommunications issues such as; Digital migration, social media, domain name and cyber squatting disputes, trade secrets and intellectual property disputes involving computer software. He has also advised a number of private organizations on the legal and regulatory compliance issues in relation to some of the emerging technologies. He has further advised some government agencies on the regulatory framework pertaining to technology and communications licensing.

Education

Augustine is a graduate of Makerere University with a degree in law and is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all courts subordinate. Augustine graduated top 3 of his class at the university and was the overall best student at the Law Development Centre- Kampala. He holds a Masters of Law in Information Technology & Communications law from the University of Oslo in Norway and is currently pursuing further qualifications in Arbitration with the the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Leisure

Augustine enjoys reading on various subjects. He particularly appreciates biographies of personalities who have championed the transformation of businesses, economies and societies, especially those who whose out of the box thinking has helped disrupt major sectors and in so doing, positively impacted on the quality of human experiences. He is keen on mentorship and personal growth for all people he has the privilege of interacting with.
