Maria Clara joined WSC in October 2017 to head the environmental practice.  She advises clients on a wide range of environmental matters, assisting with environmental licensing and permitting, advising on social and environmental impact reports, performing environmental legal audits, and working closely with management to craft and implement environmental policy and best practices.  Her environmental practice includes litigation and conflict resolution, representing clients in response to administrative requests and sanctions, as well as in judicial proceedings involving environmental damage claims.

Since graduating from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, María Clara has specialized in environmental law.  In 2001, she received an LL.M. in Energy and Environment from Tulane University, where she also studied on an educational and research scholarship from the university’s Institute of Environmental Law.  After graduating, Maria Clara became a member of the Louisiana Bar and practiced environmental litigation for six years, eventually becoming a partner of a law firm based in New Orleans.

In addition to her professional practice, María Clara is committed to academic endeavors related to her environmental law practice.  She is a frequent speaker on topics related to her field at conferences, courses and seminars in Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia and the U.S.  She has been a guest lecturer and associate professor at various Argentine universities on courses of environmental law and oil and gas law.

Maria Clara is the author of numerous publications on environmental law and on the oil & gas industry.  She has published in well-known U.S. industry journals such as “International Trade Law & Regulation,” “Oil & Gas Law” and “Taxation Review.” She is a certified auditor of Standards ISO 14001 (Bureau Veritas, 2014) and has distinguished herself professionally in Argentina and in the U.S.
