Luis Enrique has over 16 years of experience advising clients in every aspect of labor, employment, social security, and benefits law. Luis also advises clients on compliance related matters.

Luis Enrique has led hiring processes, individual and collective bargaining, executive compensation programs, expat management, pension plans, labor restructures, employment termination, massive lay-offs, complex labor, and employment litigation including strategic defense representing companies in labor claims filed by employees, including expats. He also undertakes due diligence procedures by assessing labor and employment risks and contingencies, providing support in transactional work including mergers and acquisitions.

He guides investigation processes which involve internal interviews and file analysis to identify irregularities within organizations, including labor harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, among others. Following this, Luis oversees report outcomes, steps, and findings, as well as issuing recommendations and advising on execution of disciplinary measures or sanctions.

He has represented clients from several industries and sectors such as telecom, entertainment, automotive, aeronautical, financial, mining, retail, pharma, and healthcare.

Luis Enrique is often taking part as speaker in seminars related to his labor law expertise.

Gonzalez Calvillo’s labour practice has a particular focus on compliance and litigation matters, and regularly supports clients on risk assessments to identify existing or potential labour and employment issues. The firm is retained by a variety of multinational and domestic companies for day-to-day labour law advice, and has recently seen a notable increase in its fintech client base. Luis Enrique Cervantes, who was made partner in January 2022, co-leads the department with corporate law expert and managing partner Jorge Mondragón. At associate level, former seniors Fernando de Buen and María Paula Boustani left the firm in May and June 2023, respectively.

The practice group at Gonzalez Calvillo handles all aspects of labour compliance, AML and antibribery matters, offering support with baseline analysis, prevention and corrective strategies, national and international investigations, and litigation. Its diverse client base operates in the comms, energy, transportation, tech and hospitality sectors. Two partners co-lead the team: Luis Mancera De Arrigunaga, who specialises in anticorruption, AML and tax-compliance; and Luis Enrique Cervantes Estevez, who leads on investigations. Juan Carlos Peraza, who is experienced at implementing compliance programmes provides further partner level input. However, at associate level, Victor Nakakawa Trejo left the firm in May 2023, as did former senior María Paula Boustani who moved in house the following month. In a major development, Since publication, Peraza has also left the firm (February 2024); and, in a major development, the firm has announced an agreement to merge into Spain’s Pérez-Llorca, effective as of April 2024.
