Career
Andrea DeField is a partner in Hunton Andrews Kurth’s top-ranked insurance coverage practice where she co-leads the firm’s cyber insurance practice. She has dedicated her career to helping clients manage risk and maximize insurance recovery. She handles all types of insurance issues, including those arising from D&O, E&O, CGL, cyber, crime, builder’s risk and property insurance policies.
As part of her counseling practice, Andrea adds value to business deals by advising clients on contractual risk transfer through indemnity, additional insured, and required insurance provisions in contracts. She also conducts insurance due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
Andrea helps clients proactively manage risks by auditing clients’ cyber and other insurance programs to identify gaps in coverage before renewal and works with clients, their brokers, and insurers to fill gaps through manuscript endorsements. She also drafts insurance sections of cyber incident response plans, participates in tabletop exercises and teaches executives and board members about cyber, professional liability, and directors and officers insurance claims.
When a loss has occurred or a claim has been made, Andrea helps policyholder clients maximize insurance recovery through litigation or alternative dispute resolution of coverage and bad faith cases.
