Romain Ferla is an Antitrust/Competition partner in Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ Paris office.
The competition team of Weil Paris is led by Romain Ferla. Romain has significant experience in EU and French competition law matters, including merger control, cartels/abuses of dominance, and advising on distribution agreements, joint ventures, state aids. In merger control, Romain works both as counsel to purchasers (investment funds such as Advent, 3i, Oaktree, AXA PE, Sagard, Towerbrook, Chequers and industrial clients like Atos, Paprec, Laboratoires Thea, Fives), as counsel to sellers and as counsel to complainants. Currently, Romain is involved in several cases pending before the French Competition Authority, the EU Commission and before courts.
Representative Antitust / Competition Experience includes advising:
- CVC Capital Partners on the sale of Parex to Sika
- Ardian on the sale of its portfolio company Indigo to Mirova
- Elsan on its acquisition of Medipole Partenaires (clinics, clearance subject to divestiture remedies in certain local markets)
- La Poste on its JV with Suez Environnement (waste collection, local markets affected, clearance subject to remedies)
- HLD on the disposal of its portfolio company Sarenza to Casino group
- Quick on its disposal to Burger King (fast food restaurants, clearance subject to divestiture remedies in certain local markets)
- European Capital on the sale of its portfolio company Audika to William Demant (retail distribution of hearing aids, clearance subject to divestiture remedies in certain local markets)
- Axereal in the “Flour Cartel” case before the Paris Court of Appeal and French Suprem Court
- Grands Moulin de Strasbourg in the “Bakery Cartel” case before the French Competition Authority and the Paris Court of Appeal
