Michelle specialises in planning, compulsory purchase and highways law, including high court challenges and judicial review. She has a particular expertise in advising on major planning and regeneration schemes, particularly those involving site assembly, and has advised on a number of the most significant reported cases on CPO compensation over the last five years. Michelle is also expert in advising on of the CPO aspects of development consent orders for nationally significant infrastructure projects.

Michelle's recent experience includes advising:

  • London Borough of Barnet in relation to the CPO for the redevelopment of the Brent Cross shopping centre and the comprehensive regeneration of Cricklewood, including a new town centre and 7,500 homes, one of the largest regeneration schemes in Europe;
  • Greater London Authority on numerous high value and complex CPO compensation claims relating to the CPO for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and their regeneration legacy;
  • Thurrock Council on the regeneration of Purfleet to deliver a new sustainable community of 3000 homes together with a new district centre comprising offices, retail and community uses;
  • Ignis, Shearer Property Group and UKCPT on planning and CPO matters in relation to the redevelopment of Shrewsbury town centre;
  • RWE and SSE on the compulsory purchase aspects of the development consent order for the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, for up to 140 wind turbines off the Suffolk Coast;
  • advising Cheshire East Borough Council on the CPO to secure the retail-led redevelopment of Macclesfield Town Centre;
  • advising national house builders such as Taylor Wimpey and Countryside Properties on significant residential schemes.
