Career

Kenneth Choy has practiced law in the US and Asia for more than 30 years. Before moving back to Hong Kong in 1999, he spent more than a decade in private practice in New York and California with an international law firm. After moving to Hong Kong, he practiced as a partner of two international law firms and was a co-founder of an international technology group. He has also served as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of companies with operations in multiple jurisdictions. Just prior to joining Nixon Peabody CWL in 2015, he was a partner of a firm he co-founded.

His practice combines traditional IP, transactional and emerging company practices. He helps clients identify, develop, protect, maintain and enforce IP rights to maximize the value of their intangible IP assets. He helps guide clients through company structuring and restructuring, shareholder and investor relationships, founders and key employee employment and non-compete agreements, key employee immigration visas, pre-IPO capital raising, and general commercial contracts drafting and review. Recently, he has assisted fintech and crypto-asset rich clients navigating the developing regulatory environment over crypto-currencies, blockchain, and crypto-asset products. In addition, he has also advised clients on regulatory compliance issues in data privacy matters.
