Career

Qualified as a solicitor and patent attorney in England and Wales (1977) an Hong Kong (1985) with a practice spanning decades in the field of intellectual property enforcement and rights management in Europe and Asia. He represents multinationals and local clients in the Asia region.

He focuses on IP dispute resolution in cases involving patents, trademarks, copyright, designs and confidential information, with an emphasis on cross-border solutions and works with anti-counterfeiting enforcement agencies spanning Greater China. He likewise has up to date experience in structuring and negotiating transactional IP matters, regulatory issues and other legal challenges associated with new technologies. His interests are broad ranging covering life sciences, technology, TMT, fashion, music and entertainment.

He also advises on issues relating to antitrust law and compliance, including where there is an overlap with intellectual property.

He works with both professional and industry associations to promote awareness in these sectors, including as a Council Member (Vice President) of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, member of the Law Society’s Competition Law Committee and Honorary Legal adviser to the HK Association of Pharmaceutical Industries
