Merrick White is a partner in the firm's Singapore office.


His practice centers on global oil, gas, LNG, refining and petrochemical project development. In addition to his legal qualifications, Merrick is also a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over 20 years’ wide-ranging experience in the legal, commercial, business development and engineering aspects of the Oil and Gas Industry, with over 17 years in Asia (7 years in Jakarta) successfully developing major infrastructure projects and 6 years working in engineering and commercial roles with British Gas Exploration and Production.

Taylor's arrival has also added significant capabilities in financial services, consumer goods, retail and transport M&A. The wider Singapore team has extensive energy M&A experience; recent highlights include advising AES on the $1.05bn auction sale of its majority holding in its business in the Philippines to SMC Global Power Holdings. Building on its leading presence in oil and gas (including LNG), the practice has elevated its standing in power and renewables over the last few years. It has earned recognition for its work in coal-fired power and LNG-to-power projects, and continues to be at the forefront of hydropower projects thanks to the presence of senior figure Kelly Malone. He and the team advised PNG Power, the state-owned power utility of Papua New Guinea, during the competitive bidding for and award of the right to build, own and operate the Naoro Brown hydropower project.
