Career

Fernanda Carneiro is a Corporate partner who specializes in administrative litigation. She has acted in the major cases initiated by Comissão de Valores Mobiliários – CVM (Brazil’s securities and exchange commission), involving accusations of insider trading, unfair practices and fraudulent trading, as well as inquiries into mergers and acquisitions and compliance with legal duties by officers, directors, and controlling shareholders.

She also acts for clients in proceedings initiated by Banco Central do Brasil – Bacen (Brazil’s central bank) related to mismanagement of financial institutions and foreign exchange infractions, and in proceedings initiated by BM&FBovespa Supervisão de Mercado. Her work covers all phases of administrative litigation, from legal advice during an investigation or preliminary proceeding and development of the client’s defense strategy to final judgment by the Conselho de Recursos do Sistema Financeiro Nacional – CRSFN (National Financial System Appeals Council).
Fernanda also advises investor relations officers, brokerage firms, asset management firms and financial institutions on CVM and BACEN regulations, mostly in conflict prevention.
