Benita joined BDM as a Senior Associate in November 2019, having previously worked at a number of leading international maritime law practices. She specialises in shipping law, in particular contractual disputes arising under charterparties, bills of lading (including cargo claims), shipbuilding contracts, ship management agreements and ship sale MOAs. She has also had experience in international trade, marine insurance and ship finance. She has acted for a variety of clients, including shipowners, ship operators, charterers, P&I Clubs, shipyards, insurers, brokers, trading companies, freight forwarders, oil companies and banks.
Benita graduated with a degree in Classics from Trinity College, University of Cambridge. Born and bred in the United Kingdom, Benita speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin. She has formerly worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
