Derek has over 30 years’ experience as a corporate and commercial legal adviser.
He is a solicitor with considerable business management experience.
Derek’s clients range from large, listed companies to start-ups, and has advised both public and private sector organisations throughout his extensive career.
His experience spans acquisitions, disposals, financing arrangements and joint ventures, and he has significant expertise in advising on strategic, regulatory and governance issues, as well as Board-level issues.
Derek was a corporate Partner with DWF’s Scottish business for 22 years and, latterly, was also Chief Counsel at DWF, where he headed up the firm’s in-house legal function. During that period, he acted for the firm on its acquisition of many legal services businesses in the UK, Europe and Australia.
As a result, he is expert in the establishment, acquisition and merger of professional services businesses.
Derek is a Trustee of St. Andrew’s First Aid, Scotland’s leading first aid charity.
