Career

Melanie Minter is the Head of Clinical Negligence at Mayo Wynne Baxter. She has been with the firm for over 10 years and is responsible for leading a team of seven specialist lawyers. Chambers 2016 states Melanie Minter is an “absolutely first-rate lawyer” with over two decades’ worth of experience in the clinical negligence sector. She advises on severe birth injury cases as well as serious spinal injury cases involving paralysis. Clients say: “She always did exactly what she said she would do and showed a true interest in her job.”

A highly experienced clinical negligence specialist, Melanie has conducted all types of claims from low value to multimillion pound claims. Melanie ensures that her team are up to date with new law and developments within clinical negligence, with the team achieving Band 1 status with Chambers in 2009.

Before joining the group Melanie qualified as a nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, after which she trained, qualified in 1990 and worked for Norton Rose for 2 years. She then moved to a specialist defendant, clinical negligence practice in London, where she became a Partner. In 1997, Melanie moved to the South Coast to specialise in claimant clinical negligence work.

She is recommended in the Chambers Directory as a ‘Leader in the Field’ of clinical negligence law and is an APIL accredited Senior Litigator. Melanie is also a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme and a member of the AvMA Referral Panel.

At work Melanie has particular interest in obstetric claims, ranging from cerebral palsy to still births.

Outside of work she is a music and sports enthusiast.
