Career

Andrew advises commercial clients on a wide range of company and commercial matters , including acquisitions and disposals, mergers and corporate reorganisations, management buy-outs, corporate finance and legal formations, commercial agreements and shareholder disputes.

Andrew gives clear and jargon free advice to commercial clients of all descriptions, from sole trader start ups to multi-national companies. He is often called upon to be a commercial adviser in the wider sense rather than giving purely legal advice. His no-nonsense approach allows clients to concentrate and make timely commercial decisions on the issues that matter, freeing them up to move their business forward without getting distracted by irrelevant or unimportant detail.

He is recommended for corporate work by legal publications The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, where clients have mentioned him giving “fantastic advice.”

Andrew trained with DMH Stallard, a large law firm on the south coast. He then headed up the commercial departments firstly at DFA Law in Northampton between 1996 to 2007, then heading up the commercial department at the Milton Keynes office of Borneos solicitors which subsequently merged with Shakespeares, a top 50 UK law firm.

Leisure

When he is not entertaining his two young daughters, he enjoys golf, rugby, skiing, music and classic cars.

Lawyer Rankings

East Midlands > Corporate and commercial > Corporate and commercial: elsewhere in the East Midlands

Wilson Browne Solicitors recently acquired Corby firm Friday Legal Solicitors, a move which enhanced its profile in the East Midlands. The development saw partners Douglas Iles and Duncan Crowther and a team of solicitors join the corporate and commercial group. The practice is led by Andrew Kerr, whose wide-ranging advice to clients covers acquisitions and disposals, MBOs, corporate reorganisations and commercial contracts, among other areas. Also highly recommended is associate James Dent. The firm had a strong flow of work in 2018, acting for clients from a number of sectors, including energy, education, media and entertainment, manufacturing and financial technology.
