With over 24 years of experience in legal practice, including several years as legal counsel to leading international corporations. Dr. Chau Huy Quang is recognised by the regional legal community as one of the most capable litigators. He is also a recognised arbitrator and mediator in both Vietnam and the broader region.
Dr. Quang has consistently been recognised as a leading lawyer for Dispute Resolution, Construction, Intellectual Property, Shipping and Tax by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Chambers & Partners, IFLR 1000. Dr. Quang is known to clients as a lawyer who “resolves a variety of challenging legal matters in Vietnam to get things done; he is also excellent at negotiating legal proceedings and out-of-court settlements.” Most recently, Dr. Quang was also the first Vietnamese counsel to be named Regional Managing Partner of the Year at the Asian Legal Business SE Asia Law Awards 2018.
Dr. Quang’s dedication to Rajah & Tann LCT’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group has resulted in the team becoming one of the most prolific and knowledgeable in Vietnam, garnering a strong track-record of success. From 2010 to date, the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice has been recognised by Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Asialaw Profiles, and Asian Legal Business as a leader in Vietnam. Under Dr. Quang’s leadership, the practice has successfully represented clients and advised on a variety of local and international disputes spanning all major areas.
Dr. Quang’s experience covers foreign investment, commercial transactions, employment, investment arbitration, maritime and construction for both dispute settlement and transaction work. From complex construction disputes to arbitrations over projects of national significance, Dr. Quang has been highly regarded by clients for his advocacy and strategic advice, being able to untangle complex and sensitive disputes involving the State authorities. He has successfully litigated for and against governments and government-linked entities.
Dr. Quang is also a well-known lecturer at the Judicial Academy of the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam and is a respected arbitrator of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC).
He has been frequently called upon by the press and leading publications for his commentary on Vietnamese law, and has authored multiple articles in both foreign and domestic newspapers and magazines. He is a regularly presenter on topical issues for national and international forums, discussions and panels.
He is a visiting professor for both domestic and foreign law schools, including the law school of Dong A Law School (Busan) and Kobe University (Japan).

The dispute resolution team at Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers undertakes arbitration proceedings throughout Vietnam, as well as across South East Asia in multi-jurisdictional disputes. Chau Huy Quang and Logan Leung jointly lead the department and both have international arbitration experience regarding commercial matters; Quang is especially active in investor-state disputes, and Leung was promoted to deputy managing partner in June 2022.
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers is noted for its expertise advising on wet shipping mandates, including vessel arrests, investigations, salvages and collisions. It has a strong flow of work from Singapore and represents clients in contentious matters. Managing partner Chau Huy Quang and Logan Leung, who was promoted to deputy managing partner in June 2022, jointly lead the practice. Both Quang and Leung have strong expertise in shipping disputes.
Managing partner Chau Huy Quang leads the dispute resolution team at Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers, which covers a range of litigation, from real estate and construction disputes to consumer goods and insurance claims. Quang has substantial expertise acting in disputes for and against the government and government-linked entities. Senior associate Quach Vu An Khoa is also a core member of the team and has a far-reaching practice, representing clients in disputes involving commercial, labour and IP issues.
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers established a dedicated tax practice in 2022 and advises clients on both non-contentious and contentious matters. Chau Huy Quang, who spearheads the dispute resolution team, has expertise in tax litigation, especially contentious matters for and against government entities. In March 2022, Nguyen Hung Du joined from DFDL Legal & Tax and chairs the practice, while senior counsel Joseph Pham joined the group from PwC Vietnam and has considerable experience advising on transfer pricing and corporate-related tax matters.
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers’ practice advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious labour and employment matters. Its workload includes restructurings, redundancies, lay-offs and terminations, in addition to work permits. Vu Thi Que and Chau Huy Quang jointly lead the practice; Vu is fluent in Mandarin and is well-placed to advise Chinese companies on employment matters. Senior associate Le Quynh Nhi sits in the firms M&A department and has considerable employment law experience, advising clients on contract drafting and internal investigations.
