Career

Mr. Dasgupta is a Lawyer by training and a Senior Associate at DSK Legal. He advises clients on International Trade Law and Policy issues. He regularly assists in matters concerning  WTO covered agreements, Foreign Trade Policy, Rules of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, Customs issues, issues concerning FSSAI and BIS, etc. He additionally assists on appeals and writs concerning trade remedies before the CESTAT, High Courts and the Supreme Court of India.

He has previously worked as a Research Fellow with the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (‘CTIL’) – a think tank established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to advise the Indian Government on International Trade and Investment Law issues.

Mr. Dasgupta is also a LAMP fellowship awardee and has worked as a Legislative Aide to a Member of the Indian Parliament (Rajya Sabha).

He has represented his university at the World Rounds of the 16th ELSA WTO Law Moot at the WTO in Geneva. Mr. Dasgupta also has multiple academic publications in the domain of WTO Law in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals and also speaks on academic panels in his areas of expertise. Some examples include a discussion on “Government Procurement Outside the GPA: A Developing Country View” published by the Global Trade and Customs Journal, Wolters Kluwer, “The Public Interest Gamble in an Anti-Dumping Inquiry-testing Indian waters” which was published by the GNLU Law Review. Most recently, he has co-authored a chapter “Understanding the SPS Regulatory Framework in the Indian context” in the “Handbook on Product Standards and International Trade” published by Wolters Kluwer.

Mr. Dasgupta also regularly sits on the panels of several international moot court competitions and was invited as the problem author for the 14^th GNLU International Moot Court, 2023. He has also lectured at a summer school on WTO Law for law students and young professionals.
