Career
A widely respected lawyer, corporate and sports figure, Dato’ Lee is an inspiration to members of his firm.
A senior partner with nearly 60 years of experience in banking, insurance, finance and corporate law, Dato’ Thomas Lee has experienced and shaped the outcome of many joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and financial transactions, although he does not now deal with clients directly. Through his many years of experience in practice and as Board director, he has gained invaluable knowledge in corporate governance and boardroom practice and working with regulators.
He has been a director of many companies — private, public, and international — and continues to serve in that capacity on the boards of some of the more prominent ones. He has served on the Appeals Committee of Bursa Malaysia, and as an arbitrator with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, he has participated as an arbitrator in two Commonwealth games (Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne) and three Olympics (Sydney, Beijing, and London). He is a trustee of the Malaysian Commonwealth Studies Centre, the Cambridge Malaysian Education and Development Trust and the Cambridge (Malaysia) Foundation.
Dato’ Lee has also been a prominent person in golf, having been for many years the President of the Malaysian Golf Association and the Chairman of the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, and has been involved very much in the setting up and organisation of golf tournaments, golf clubs and the golf industry at home and internationally such as the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, now one of the leading golf amateur tournaments in the world.
