Significant transactions that Clarence has been involved in include advising / acting for the following:
- Jurong Port Pte. Ltd., MAIF Investments Singapore Pte. Ltd. and Petrochina International (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. in a S$1.5 billion financing for the purpose of acquiring Universal Terminal, a petroleum storage terminal, from Lim Hin Leong’s family.
- United Overseas Bank Limited, Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Singapore Branch in the grant of term and revolving credit facilities of up to the equivalent of S$1.218 billion in connection with, inter alia, the acquisition (and privatisation) of Soilbuild Business Space REIT which was listed on the Singapore Exchange, SB (Waterview) Investment Pte. Ltd. and SB (Waterfront) Investment Pte. Ltd. by the Soilbuild Group Chairman (Lim Chap Huat) and The Blackstone Group Inc.
- A syndicate of lenders in a US$551 million financing granted to subsidiaries of ARA Asset Management Limited, for the acquisition of a portfolio of 38 hotels under the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House franchise across 21 states in the U.S.
- DBS Bank Ltd., Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited and Malayan Banking Berhad in the grant of a S$350 million green loan to Frasers Property Limited (through its subsidiary Fernvale Lane Pte. Ltd.) to finance, inter alia, part of the purchase price of the property at Fernvale Lane and the construction costs of the Fernvale Lane executive condominium development.
- DBS Bank Ltd. in the grant of a £200 million term loan facility to Suntec REIT UK 1 Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of HSBC Institutional Trust Services (Singapore) Limited (in its capacity as trustee of Suntec Real Estate Investment Trust) in the acquisition of a 50% interest in two Grade A office buildings with ancillary retail in Victoria, West End, London, UK.
- Apollo Towers Holdings Limited, as borrower, in a US$100 million mezzanine term loan facility (granted by Mercer Investments (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., Tor Asia Credit Master Fund LP and Corbin ERISA Opportunity Fund, L.P. for, among other purposes, the funding of the capital expenditure and general corporate purposes of Apollo Towers Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries.
