Career

Beth has more than 20 years’ experience of working in Education Law, and specialises in areas including special educational needs, discrimination, judicial review and appeals to the Upper Tribunal.

Discrimination law is an area of particular interest for Beth, and she often gives tactical and technical advice to other members of our team who are working on this type of case. She uses various methods to achieve the best results for her clients, including mediation and negotiation.

Beth previously worked for the Disability Rights Commission (DRC), where she was the Principal Education Lawyer in charge of ground-breaking disability discrimination cases.

While at the DRC, she also helped to write the Education Statutory Codes of Practice and ran the team that wrote the Education Equality Act Codes and Guidance for the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

Beth has shared her expertise in various publications, and has provided support and training to a number of charities and public bodies, such as the Council on Tribunals. She also speaks at national conferences and training events including the Discrimination Law Annual Conference.

Leisure

Beth runs her local cub scout pack and enjoys walking, reading, swimming and knitting. She also spends much of her free time ferrying her children around.

Beth has been a governor at various primary and secondary schools, where her legal experience has proved very helpful.
