Mr. Maochang Li is a partner of Jun He Law Offices and mainly practices at our Beijing office. Mr. Li specializes in corporate finance, M&A and dispute resolution.


Before returning to China, Mr. Li worked with international law firms in Boston and Tokyo for over six years. During this time, he assisted a number of international companies on matters of corporate finance, M&A, cross-border investment and dispute resolution. Since his return to China in 1997, Mr. Li has represented numerous major domestic and multinational corporations and investment banks. He has particular experience in China's telecom, oil and automobile sectors. Mr. Li has also provided innovative advice and comprehensive services to many major hi-tech and IT companies, venture capitals and investment funds in the areas of corporate restructuring, financing and securities offering. His major recent representations include China Unicom in its Hong Kong listing and dissolution of the sophisticated "CCF" arrangements involving an over $2 billion settlement, Nissan-Dong Feng formation of a second largest joint automobile base in the PRC involving a nearly $2 billion joint venture and comprehensive restructuring of Dong Feng's major assets in almost all corporate forms of an over 40-year typical PRC state-owned enterprise, Haier/HK CCT in the overseas share swap deal with PRC assets nearly $1 billion. In recognition of his innovative contributions and solutions to many of the problems that confronted his clients, Mr. Li was elected by Asia Law & Practice as a leading lawyer of Asia for 2000, 2001 and 2002 (AsiaLaw Leading Lawyer Survey 2000, 2001 and 2002). Mr. Li has published numerous articles on China's legal renovation in prestigious law journals (e.g. Columbia Transnational Law Review an Asia Law & Practice).

JunHe LLP's multidisciplinary team handles a broad range of mandates for TMT sector clients. Among its recent highlights, the IP team successfully assisted a Chinese e-commerce company with a patent infringement litigation, invalidating two key patents of its major competitor, and represented a Chinese multinational conglomerate company in filling trade mark opposition before the China Trademark Office (CTMO) ; the capital markets team including Yi Wang and Wenjin Jiang advised Uxin Group on its $500m financing; the corporate transactional team advised Youzu Interactive on its €80m acquisition of Bigpoint HoldCo, a German online gaming company and handled Jiafu's acquisition of ETL Public Company. The team also counts BMW as a major client which it advises on various telecoms-related regulatory matters including automobile telematics services, internet mapping and positioning service. Maochang Li advises private equity funds with a focus on the hi-tech and IT industries, and Jun Gong has notable experience handling corporate transactions for media sector clients.
