Career

Maria is a partner in the Family Department and head of Domestic Children.

Maria joined Osbornes in 2001 and is an experienced solicitor specializing in public and private children work. Maria advises clients on resolving disputes in relation to their children. She also represents parents, family members, children and Children’s Guardians in public law proceedings. Maria has extensive experience conducting complex cases involving non-accidental injuries to children, physical and sexual abuse allegations, and parental alienation.

Maria is known for her child-focused approach to cases, professional client care skills, and experience in representing vulnerable clients.

Maria represented the child in the case of Re J (2014) which provides guidance as to practice and procedure when dealing with jurisdictional issues in care cases between the Member States – http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWFC/HCJ/2014/41.html.

Maria also represented the mother during care proceedings in the case of Re P-S Children (2018), which guided the making of Special Guardianship Orders.
