Marpataş, one of the first Trademark and Patent attorneys in Turkey, Yaşar Tozar, Burçin Elmastaşı and Savaş Ölmez took the first steps in Ankara in 1979 and started to serve in 1985.
Marpataş, which has made significant contributions to the formation of the building blocks of the sector and created a sought-after, reliable and respected identity in a short time with the experience of its founders and expert team, opened its first branch in Istanbul in 1993 and continues to serve with its Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir offices.
Providing uninterrupted services to Turkey’s most important trademarks, Marpataş uses its steady growth effectively on the international platform and continues to be one of the first in the sector with new projects.
Marpataş continues to contribute to the Industrial Property ecosystem in our country with Industrial Property trainings within the scope of the Yes Genius project, which was launched in universities in 2010 and reached thousands of students.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?
- We are in the opinion that especially digital applications will increase. The reason for this is that we are now in the age of technology and all processes are carried out in a digital environment.
What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?
- Providing fast and effective feedback to the clients with our in-house software, including each client’s details within its own platform.
Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?
- As in all areas of the life, technology plays a very important role in our company and in our field of activity.
- While technology accelerates and increases our communication, it enables us to reach solutions in the fastest way by communicating quickly with our clients from all over the world, especially through on-line meeting processes.
5) Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?
- Branding is the most basic concept in the establishment of a company. While establishing a business, the founders should first check whether the name of the company exists, and should evaluate the trademark that will represent this business in the most meaningful way and in the most accurate way to represent the business or the products and services to be produced in the business.
- As a follower of trademark processes that increase the value of businesses, we first check whether the trademark is available for the business and whether it creates a difference with its competitors.
- If this business is going to produce products, we check whether these products violate the rights of third parties. Afterwards, we support the registration processes as patent / utility model / design.
- We carry out all legal follow-ups based on registered rights.
- While businesses become only businesses on their own, by providing added values with trademarks, patents, designs, the material value of the company increases, as well as its prestige and awareness in the market.
