Initially, she worked as a teacher in both public and private sector educational institutions.
She graduated from Athens University Law School in 1989 and was admitted in Piraeus Bar Association in 1990.

She is an active lawyer since 1989. Maria specializes in administrative and fiscal law, having successfully handled high profile smuggling cases (fuel, sports goods, cars, digital devices, cigarettes and foods) and cases related to customs’ offences.
