Background

Before joining KPMG in 2019, Gillian trained and qualified as a solicitor with a leading Irish international law firm. Gillian  has advised both international and domestic clients on a broad range of projects involving Irish corporate and commercial law matters.

Professional Experience

More specifically, Gillian has provided legal advice in the following areas:

  • Corporate Restructuring: legal support in relation to group structuring projects including pre and post-acquisition reorganisations, domestic and cross-border mergers and group entity simplifications.
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance: legal advice and assistance in relation to corporate governance and compliance obligations
  • Corporate Finance: secured and unsecured corporate lending, real estate and development finance, acquisition financing and financings involving funds structures
  • Financial Services and Financial Regulation: advising financial institutions on their regulatory and compliance obligations, and policies and procedures applicable under domestic and European legislation such as the Credit Reporting Act, the SME Regulations, the Consumer Credit Act, the Consumer Protection Codes, and the Central Bank Acts

Recent projects on which Gillian has advised include the following:

  • Advising EU incorporated entities in relation to its Irish regulatory and compliance obligations in connection with its proposal to enter various financing arrangements with its Irish customers and subsidiaries.
  • Seconded to a leading financial institution and provided legal support in relation to a supervisory enquiry commenced by the Central Bank
  • Acted for various Irish borrowers in connection with arranging financing with a third-party lenders (including domestic financial intuitions and alternative finance providers).
  • Acted as Irish adviser for various multinational organisations in connection with their internal restructuring and group re-organisations
