Career

Partner and co-founder of the firm Ariza y Marín, with specialization in tax legislation and university professor, with whom during his 12 years of experience he has developed his professional practice in the field of infrastructure projects, conflict resolution, crisis management and teaching. His services have been highlighted as timely, generating value to his clients, who recognize his ability to have a deep knowledge of the value production chain of his clients and the ability to generate strategic legal solutions.

During his professional practice, he has successfully advised infrastructure projects worth over one billion Colombian pesos (COP 1 billion), among which projects of high technical complexity and technological innovation stand out, such as the urban renewal of water and sewage networks in the cities of Medellin and Bogota, through trenchless technology systems, as well as strategic projects in terms of meeting social needs, such as the construction of water storage tanks that will guarantee the supply of water to the city of Buenaventura by solving a serious existing social problem. In both cases, he has understood the dynamics of these contracts and has successfully implemented solutions that have made the execution of these projects viable.

In the area of conflict resolution, he has focused his practice on arbitration, where he has successfully represented his clients both in arbitration tribunals and in appeals against arbitration awards. He has also participated in international tribunals and cross-border conflict resolutions, successfully reaching out-of-court settlement agreements and/or within the judicial process, highlighting the representation of an international consortium before the International Chamber of Commerce in the amount of USD 40 M, which ended in a settlement agreement and an arbitration tribunal derived from the construction of a hydroelectric project in which a high density polyethylene pipeline was used for the first time in Colombia in the water conveyance system, which is currently underway. He is currently part of a dispute resolution team preparing the initiation of an International Tribunal to settle disputes arising from a contract executed in Peru by a consortium of Colombian companies.

He has provided legal advice to companies in crisis situations, in important high profile cases, some of which have been covered by the national media, such as the CDO Group in disputes exceeding USD 50 M.
