Career

Yong-Sok Shin has over 10 years of experience in prosecuting patent applications before the Korean Intellectual Property Office in the technical field of machines, including semiconductor devices, automobiles, machine control and designs.

Since joining Lee International IP & Law Group in 2007, Mr. Shin has handled patent cases in a wide range of mechanical engineering technologies, including automobiles, semiconductor manufacturing devices, mobile devices, lighting devices, electronic appliances, automobile parts, architectural technology and aerospace technology, on behalf of global companies.  Mr. Shin has handled appeals before the Intellectual Property Tribunal, the Patent Court and the Korea Supreme Court to obtain patent registrations.  He has extensive experience in prior art searches, patent infringement analyses, invalidation trials, scope confirmation trials and infringement actions.

Prior to joining Lee International IP & Law Group, Mr. Shin worked at Aero-Technology Research Institute (ATRI) of the Korean Air Force for three years.  In ATRI, Mr. Shin conducted failure analyses and localization of aircraft parts.  Mr. Shin is a graduate of Pohang Science and Technology University (POSTECH) (B.S., mechanical engineering, 2001) and Franklin Pierce Law Center (University of New Hampshire, M.I.P., 2017).  He is a member of the Korean Patent Attorneys Association.
