Career

Young-Soo Choi advises and litigates for numerous leading enterprises, local and global, in areas of real property finance and development, sports & entertainment, intellectual property right, labor and energy (electricity).

His practice has been focused on advice and dispute settlement relating to large-scale property development projects and sale of non-performing assets and advice and litigation regarding production of movies and entertainment programs and numerous contracts involving famous entertainers and athletes.  He also advised on M&A transactions and foreign investment on numerous occasions.

Prior to joining Lee International IP & Law Group in 2016, Mr. Choi worked for Sojong Partners (2008-2016).  He also served as a mediator at Seoul Northern District Court.  He studied international trade law at Columbia University Law School in the U.S.

Mr. Choi received a bachelor’s degree in law from Korea University in 1998 and passed the 44th bar examination in 2002.

• Advised Public Official Benefit Association on development of Pangyo Alpha Dom City, management and sale of non-performing assets of Chuncheon Gwanglim Cemetery Park, etc.
• Development of Complex near Gwangmyeong Station: Advised Taeyoung consortium and Mcieta
• Advised Megabox on opening movie house in Songdo New Town, Ilsan Kintex, etc. and operation of subsidiary facilities
• Advised Consus Asset Management on lease and operation of Season Shopping Center in Dongdaemoon
• Advised BN Group(purchaser) on acquiring Daesun
• Advised Korea Housing Finance Corporation on issuance of MBS
• Advised Korea Electric Power Corporation on disputes relating to urban development projects and electrical trunk lines
• Advised GalaxiaSM(formerly IB Sports) and their athletes on management and sponsorship agreement and commercial contract involving Yeon-Jae Son, Shin-Soo Choo, In-Bee Park and Shin-Ae Ahn
• Advised Taewon Entertainment on production of Iris, Operation Chromite, etc.
• Advised Next Entertainment World on contracts relating to “The Attorney,” “Descendants of the Sun,” etc., purchase of Sindorim CGV movie house, lease agreement on theater, consigned operation agreement, etc.
• Advised KOEN MEDIA, a production company of “the Return of Superman,” “Immortal Songs” and many others, on contracts and disputes relating to production of entertainment programs
• Advised KOEN on contracts and disputes involving their artists including Gyeong-Gyu Lee, Yoon-Jeong Jang, Gyeong-Sil Lee, Se-Yoon You, Dong-Min Jang and Sang-Moo Yoo.
• Advised local enterprises such as SK Networks, C&S Corporation, Doosan Engineering & Construction, Kumho E&C, I’Park Mall, Korean Red Cross, Hanwha General Insurance and Yura Corporation and foreign enterprises such as Microsoft, Sandisk and Mango Korea on their businesses in Korea.
