Career

Wai Yeng is a Singapore registered patent attorney with about 14 years experience in Intellectual Property. She advises businesses on both obtaining and enforcing IP rights and partners with incubators, accelerators as well as government agencies to provide technology-focused IP strategies for innovative businesses, particularly in the area of patents.  

Wai Yeng’s patent clients range from individual inventors to tertiary institutions such as Dalian University of Technology and Sun Yat-Sen University as well as multi-nationals including Intelligence, Inc, and ÆON Group. With a background in Chemical Engineering, she has drafted and prosecuted patent applications successfully to grant for computer-implemented inventions, mechanical systems, semi-conductor test equipment, electrical appliances as well as building and construction related innovations.  

Wai Yeng is currently working with WIPO as an external expert to assist the ASEAN Member States (AMS) in conducting a feasibility study for an ASEAN patent system.

She was a primary examiner in the examination committee of IPOS Patent Agent Qualifying Examinations for two years (2018-2019), responsible for setting questions and marking answers for Patent Law and Patent Practice in Singapore (Paper D).
