Career

M. Jorge Yañez uses his considerable experience to counsel clients on their corporate concerns, including mergers and acquisitions, project financing, international trade, real estate, renewable energy, environmental and natural resources, entertainment (gaming regulation), and immigration.

Jorge negotiates joint ventures and acquisitions of private and public companies. He has led teams in complex transactions, from the due diligence phase to the negotiation of transactional documents and post-closing actions. Jorge guides clients through the process of establishing a presence in Mexico through the acquisition or creation of startup subsidiaries. Due to his successful transactional practice, Jorge was named lead counsel for the day-to-day operations of numerous clients.

Jorge also has a deep understanding of custom matters and trade remedies and has defended the interests of international clients who were investigated in Mexico for international unfair trade practices. Jorge defends clients in Free Trade Agreement Panel appeals, and has been a frequent researcher of World Trade Organization disputes.

Jorge has authored the Mexican chapters of the International Due Diligence and International Joint Ventures manuals published by the American Bar Association (ABA) and participated in an upcoming ABA publication on public company takeovers.
