Career

Yeşim graduated from Department of Food Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2000. She passed the patent and trademark examination successfully at 2009 and took the Patent and Trademark titles. She completed the “Praktika Intern – working with examiners” programme organised by European Patent Office (EPO) in 2014 in Munich.

Prior to joining Nazali Attorney Partnership as Senior Manager, Yeşim worked as engineer and executive at food production and packaging companies in R&D, quality, production and lad/analysis departments during the period of 2001-2007. Afterwards, she started her intellectual property career at an intellectual property consultancy company at Patent Department in 2007 and then worked as Head of Foreign Affairs till 2019. Yesim is also a sworn translator before the notary public.

During her 12 years’ experience at the intellectual property field, Yeşim has been involved in the drafting of description of various patents filed for food, chemical, pharmaceutical, steel, agriculture and various sectors, and took part in the prosecution of various procedures such as application, assignments, mergers and renewals before the TURKPATENT. During the last 7 years at the Foreign Affairs Department, she represented foreign clients for their local and overseas files as senior consultant and manager. Within her career, she represented nearly 6000 patents, 200 designs, 500 trademarks before the TURKPATENT, as well as submitted 200 PBR application at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In the meantime, she prosecuted the custom protection applications before the Ministry of Trade, has also gained experience in well-known trademarks and geographical indications. Yeşim is currently preparing for the EQE and she is a European patent attorney candidate.

During this period, she become specialised in the field of trademark oppositions, EP validation procedures, patent infringement analysis and FTO reports. We worked on preparation of technical opinion reports and participated in pursuance of litigation matters for her clients together with the Legal Affairs Department. She has taken in charge of intellectual property operations both in Turkey and abroad of many foreign companies from Germany, USA, Japan and Korea. Yeşim also represented her company at international conferences in all over the world as a participant and a speaker.
