Position

Emma is a partner within the Medical Negligence team in the Irwin Mitchell Birmingham office and has worked for Irwin Mitchell since 2007.

Emma acts exclusively on behalf of clients in clinical negligence cases, helping people bring claims against NHS Trusts, GPs and private practitioners. She has a varied caseload including cases resulting in amputations, poor outcomes from cosmetic surgery and cases leading to fatalities.

Emma has a particular interest in obstetric/gynaecology cases and has represented many families where children have been left with significant disabilities and in need of lifelong private care due to injuries sustained at birth.

Sara Burns  has extensive experience in all aspects of medical negligence work while Lisa Jordan  has particular expertise in cerebral palsy claims. Emma Rush advises on cerebral palsy, brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputation cases. Lindsay Tomlinson  frequently handles a variety of complex and high-value claims meanwhile Jenna Harris was promoted to the partnership. On the personal injury side, the team handles a substantial caseload of high-value claims supporting children and adults who have sustained brain and spinal cord injuries, limb loss and multiple orthopaedic traumas. Stephen Nye  handles all types of serious injury cases and Hilary Wetherell  specialises in brain injury, polytrauma and complex high-value fatal accident work cases and coronial law. Alida Coates  has a wealth of experience in asbestos disease cases with Philip Banks serving as head of the international personal injury team. Senior associate Jayne Campbell joined the department from Slater and Gordon.
