Career
Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel is a Polish solicitor and doctor of legal sciences. For a number of years, she worked at the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (the “Polish Authority”). From 2008-2014, she served as the Polish Authority’s Chairman. Previously, she served as a Vice-Chairman and as the Head of the Legal Department.
Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel is internationally recognized by senior competition officials and private practitioners as a leading figure in competition enforcement. Her knowledge of and experience with the policies, practices and strategies of Polish and foreign Competition Authorities positions her to well represent companies and their executives in national and international cartel investigations and litigation. She is a frequent lecturer on competition and consumer protection law at the Institute of Legal Studies of PAN in Warsaw and at the Warsaw School of Economics.
She brings exceptional experience to companies and executives subject to investigations by the Polish Authority and the European Commission as well as other EU Competition Authorities.
During her tenure as Chairman, Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel initiated and oversaw extensive amendments to the Competition Act. She initiated and implemented clear policies on the Polish Authority’s application of competition and consumer laws by, among other things, drafting Poland’s first clarifications (“Guidelines”) on the application of regulations concerning merger control, fines and the functioning of the leniency programme.
As a practitioner, she has excelled. Her clients are diverse and come from the energy, media, telecommunications, publishing and manufacturing sectors. Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel is well versed in new technologies and how to advise clients on the intersection of these industries with the competition laws. She has overlooked a number of the Firm’s litigation cases, including a plaintiff private damage action case.
