Career

Rahul Sud is a Senior Associate at ASAR. Prior to joining ASAR he worked in India, Singapore and Qatar. His areas of practice include cross-border banking and financial transactions, structured finance, fintech, structured finance, debt capital markets, general corporate advisory, corporate finance, banking law, intellectual property, data privacy compliance and technology laws. He has over 15 years’ experience working for and advising funds, financial institutions and technology companies.

Professional Experience

Banking and Finance: Bahrain counsel for USD1.5-billion refinancing of Islamic and conventional financing for a Bahraini entity, involving cross-border restructuring of a multinational group and its Bahrain subsidiary, which operated as a joint venture with a local partner nominee but wholly controlled by the group.

Al Dur2 Power Project: Acted as borrower’s counsel for financing of the Al Dur2 IWPP Independent Water and Power Project in Bahrain, generating 1,500MW of power and 50MIGD of water through CCGT and SWRO technologies respectively.

Satellite Antenna Licensing: Advised a US-based client on VSAT licensing requirements in Bahrain, including establishment of earth station and approved frequency band for communication with a foreign-owned satellite.

Fintech: Advised local and foreign entities on Bahrain’s fintech regulatory framework and CBB approvals necessary for regulated fintech activities.
