Career

Clare heads up the Wealth Preservation team and prides herself in supporting her clients at vulnerable times, bringing humour and warmth to her client interactions. She appreciates that all clients are different and adapts her knowledge and skills to fit in with each individual client’s needs and objectives.

Clare has a wide range of clients from all backgrounds, which leads to a breadth of experience and knowledge.

Clare also works with a large network of professional contacts and encourages co-ordination between clients, their financial advisors and accountants in order to achieve the best possible result when considering estate planning and wealth protection.

Clare deals with all aspects of Private Client work relating to death and mental capacity, whether that be wills, probate and estate administration, lasting powers of attorney or the creation of trusts. She is highly regarded.

She provides general succession, inheritance tax and asset protection planning to multiple generations of families as well as creating and administering onshore trusts and providing advice to trustees.

The wealth preservation practice at Greenwoods Legal is led from Cambridge by Clare Harris, which collaborates closely with ‘efficient, knowledgeable, kind and very patient’ associate Rebecca Towey in Peterborough to deliver a strong service to private clients. Towey notably spends part of the week in London acting for the firm’s city-based clientele. At Greenwoods Legal, Ian Bowyer is recommended for his work with wealthy individuals, families and business owners on issues as diverse as onshore trusts and probate work, through to taxation matters. Bowyer also acts as a professional executor and trustee for a number of families and deals with various complex and high-value estates that have heritage property. Clare Harris is the head of department. In September 2023, the firm took a nine-strong team from Ince & Co, including former practice head Matthew Biles.
